GENERAL INFORMATION
Established in 1976 to assist it’s members on technical and also official matters, the Turkish Foundrymen’s Association has 91 member companies and became a member of the WFO (CIATF) in 1989. And became a member of CAEF in 2007. Members produce some 75% of the Turkish Foundry output.
Approximately half of the ferrous output, which largely comprises grey and ductile iron, comes from 15 foundries whose annual capacity ranges from 140,000 tonnes to around 30,000 tonnes and 75% of tonnage from the 61 casters who are members of The Foundrymen’s Association of Turkey. This represents a shift in production from the numerous smaller foundries that dominated the industry in the late 1970s. The total grey iron output produced in small shops dropped from 60% in 1977 to only 25% by 2005.
